Different Types of Dropshadows in Photoshop

If you want to add dimension to your work, then dropshadows are an essential part of that. With a few simple changes to the settings in the layer styles panel, you can create dramatically different effects. You can create looks such as 3D or top-lit with a couple of different settings. In the video tutorial above, you’ll learn the simple tweaks you can make to control the look of your dropshadows.

When you understand how the mechanics of layers styles work, especially for dropshadows, you can manipulate them to use them to your advantage for creating unique and unexpected effects. Settings like the angle of your dropshadows, the spread, the distance, and the size can have a big influence over the outcome of the effect. Also, when you mix and match them, you can create more intricate effects.
