WordPress Page Builders
Creating a website in WordPress is great when you can find just the right theme for the job. However, what happens when you need to customize a page, or you want to tweak its layout? You run into big trouble, because you have to either know how to code, or monkey around with it in a trial ad error fashion. That’s why people have fallen in love with WordPress page builders, because you can add elements easily, so you can focus on the look of your site. You don’t have to worry about digging into code. can build custom WordPress themes, but not all of my side projects allows for that kind of time investment. Let’s take a look at the 3 biggest names in WordPress page builders.
Divi
Divi is actually an entire theme, which gives you a library of modules to choose from. You can build almost any type of website with Divi. You can create a wide variety of layouts, and with the ability to control the CSS of every module, you can get as deep into customization as you need to. Not only is Divi a theme, but Elegant Themes also has a plugin that you can integrate with any website to add modules and customization. You can add anything from icons and images, to call-to-actions and subscribe forms.
CornerStone
My experience with Cornerstone has mainly been when it is included within the X Theme. Cornerstone isn’t modular like Divi is. You get to see more of the design, as a WYSIWYG editor. You can click on an element to edit it. You can add text, images, videos, sign up forms, create transitions, and anything else you’d expect to find in a standard website.
The major downside is that Cornerstone only works with the X Theme. It isn’t a standalone plugin. Also, if you want to use it, you have to buy a license of the X theme for every site you build. At $64, that adds up quickly.
MotoPress
MotoPress is another WYSIWYG page builder for WordPress. It is a stand alone plugin you can add to any website. You can add anything from regular buttons to social media buttons, images, text, and more. You can add advanced features like modals, pricing tables, countdown timers, post sliders, and more. One of the things I like the most about this plugin is the price point, at $29 for 1 site and $139 for unlimited sites, that’s a good deal.
