11 Typewriter Fonts
Gone are the days of the typewriter. The sound of metallic banging keys and the use of white out are long since over. However, typewriter fonts are very much alive and the proof is in today’s post. There is just something about a dirty, imperfect typewriter font that makes you think of so many distinct things. A good dirty typewriter font can make you think of an old top secret government document. It can also make you think of a distinct movie that features a typewriter or someone who happens to be a writer such as the movie that features the line that I used for the featured image of this post.
Typewriter fonts immediately give a design a hand-made, mechanical feel to it. This comes from the fact that the letters were made with ink and the letters slamming into the paper. This was unique, because each typewriter was slightly different. No brand of typewriter produced exactly the same perfect lettering each time. This was impossible, due to all of the variables that went into the final produce. You have the pressure of each writer banging the keys. You also had the cast metal lettering on each typewriter. Any of the letters could have the slightest variation, due to a metal burr or a blemish that formed during the casting process. Typewriter fonts have a look that is industrial, yet organic at the same time. Today, I am featuring 11 unique typewriter fonts that you can use in your designs.
