A List of Key Organizations for Creative Professionals

First off, this is a list of who I consider to be some of the top notch resources and sites for creative professionals. I have received no endorsements, fees, bribes, or persuasion from any outside sources. This is strictly upon my personal evaluation.

1. AIGA- This organization is a network for creative professionals with resources, jobs, and articles about many different subjects, including news. http://www.aiga.org/

2. The Graphic Artists Guild- This organization is a hub for designers to gather about issues related to graphic design. It has job posts, as well as a resource to help freelancers acquire health insurance. http://www.graphicartistsguild.org/

3. Communication Arts- This magazine has been around for decades, and their site allows you to upload your work for a web portfolio on their site. They also have job listings for creative professionals. They hold contests of professional work that has really made an impact or really stands out in the creative world. http://www.commarts.com/

4. National Association for Photoshop Professionals (NAPP)- This association produces Photoshop User magazine, and becoming a member keeps you on the cutting edge of Photoshop tips and tricks. They have a vast database of Photoshop tutorials. http://www.photoshopuser.com/

5. Layers Magazine- Their magazine and Website is a one stop shop where creative professionals can find an array of great tutorials about anything to do with Adobe Software. They hold design contests and feature artists that have exceptional work. They also have a killer podcast. http://www.layersmagazine.com/

6. Kelby Training- This is an amazing site. Upon membership, you gain access to tons of cutting edge tutorials about everything creative, from photography, to design concepts, software tips and tricks and much more. You get to take unlimited courses from some of the best creative minds in the world. This is truly well worth the membership fee. http://www.kelbytraining.com/

7. Lynda- A site that upon subscription, gives you access to hundreds, if not more, tutorials on all creative software, as well as many different types of programs, web design, formatting, and many other subjects. This is a site filled with vast knowledge and tutorials from professionals in the field. http://www.lynda.com/
