Bee

It’s been a while since I have created a free website template for my readers. I’ve been tied up with a lot of different projects, but I’ve taken the time to create a new template for you. Bee is a free Bootstrap website template with a few subtle transitions. I tried some different things with Bee, experimenting with different ways to handle specific content. Let’s take a look at Bee and what you can expect from the template.

One thing I did was to create a sliding image carousel that fills the browser.I centered the headline text and implemented a call-to-action button. For the services section, I added a subtle hover transition for the Glyphicons. For the portfolio section, I made it so that the project name and description appears when you hover over the featured image. This is done with CSS. Also, for the blog section, I made it so 4 article excerpts would show at once. Then, every few seconds, the carousel will cycle through with the 4 next articles. This is a great way to keep visitors looking at your content.

The navigation is where I decided to experiment a little. Instead of using text at all, I used glyphicons to represent the pages you would link to. You might have a documents page, a portfolio page, and the phone icon could be a contact page. I also experimented with the fact that the menu is below the carousel section. On the other page included in the template, called the portfolio page, the menu is at the top of the page. There are also ghost buttons on hover, which is an interesting element for either of the call-to-action buttons.
