Retro Monitor Effect
Photoshop is an amazing program for designers and digital artists all over the world. There’s literally nothing that you can’t create inside of Photoshop. It’s amazing how just the right combination of filters, layer styles, and blend modes can come together to create fantastic results. You can mix and match layers and different blend modes in an infinite number of combinations. Even the order that you stack your layers in, and the blend modes that you choose can produce different results every time. This is one of the main reasons why Photoshop is so popular. This week, I’m going to show you how to create a retro monitor effect using different filters and blend modes inside of Photoshop.
If you remember the monitors and green screens of the early 90s, then you’ll remember that there were scan lines in the monitors themselves. As monitors improved and evolved, those lines went away. However, if you want to create this effect you can do so inside of Photoshop using the filter gallery and specific blend modes. Many Photoshop users forget that the filter gallery has many filters that we used to use all the time buried deep within it. These filters can be combined to create amazing effects. Each filter has its own settings, and you’ll be amazed at what you can create by playing around with the settings.
Were you able to create this retro monitor effect inside of Photoshop? Did you run into any problems? Just make sure that you used the proper blend mode for each layer, and that should solve most problems. Some people forget to change the blend mode of one of their layers. If you have any questions about the filter gallery or how to create this effect, feel free to leave your thoughts or questions in the comments section below.
