Wix Code & Advanced Websites

If you’re a small business owner, then you might want know how to build a website for your small business. Especially when you’re just starting out, Wix has always been a cost effective way to get a great looking website up and running quickly. However, Wix just launched something called Wix Code for building advanced web applications, without knowing how to code!

Database Collections

Collect data and add it to a database that you can manage and edit at any time. You can collect data over time, and you can add to it, or you can allow users to add to it. You have total control over your database and who can add to it, edit it, or view it.

You can also control the content separate from the design. This means you can constantly add new content to it, but it will display in the same style as the data you previously entered.

database collections

A great example is the recipe database in the preview above. The image and the recipe name are shown, and when the user clicks on that, it goes into the recipe details. Whenever you add another recipe and image, to the database, it automatically follows the layout you’ve chosen.

Once you’ve decided on the design, you can focus completely on populating the database with new information, instead of having to design and build the design with the content.

online reviews

Another example is online reviews. You can set up items in your application that users can review. Those reviews are stored in the database. It’s a great example of how you can create engagement with your users with Wix Code.

You can get as advanced as you want with it. The next example is great, and shows just how much you can do with Wix Code. In the example, you can add a pattern to a backpack. This may seem simple, but think of how awesome this would be for a clothing company or a car company, where you can add parts or add-ons to a car to customize it. This is incredibly interactive.

User Data

One of the hardest things to do on a website is to create a custom form or survey. With Wix Code, you can create custom form, surveys, quizzes and review sections without having to know how to code. This is tremendously useful for businesses of all types. You can collect information from users and display it in a table on your site. There’s so much you can do with this functionality. In the example you can see a multi-part form that the user has to fill out. This is a great way to divide a long form, so that it doesn’t seem like so much to fill out.

This type of interactivity is essential for engaging with, and collecting data from your users.

Custom Interactions

With a little javascript code, you can create custom user interactions on your website. The possibilities are endless. The example above shows how part of the map highlights when you hover over the number. You can do this with portions of images, too. It is a great way to show information dynamically and interactively with your users. Things like this make people want to explore your website. It also reduces bounces rate, and it increases the time they spend on each page. All of these things are great and are a big deal for the success of your website.

Wix Code APIs

Want your website to tie in with popular applications, such as Dropbox and Facebook? With Wix Code APIs, you can create any type of website imaginable. You have full control of the functionality of your website. Here is a list of some of the APIs available for you to hook into with Wix Code:
