Quick Wireframes With Adobe Illustrator

It seems like we are all on different pages as web designers. Some of us develop right inside the browser, and somehow we are good at it. So people are like that and can just whip something up and it’s golden. They get a vision and just run with it. Others have their own process, which can be anything from sketches to digital wireframes. I started out as a print designer, and quickly moved into web design and web development, but from that, I know Illustrator inside and out. Other designers use Fireworks for wireframes. There are others who use other mockup tools, such as Balsamiq, Protoshare, and OmniGraffle. Whatever you use, it has to be quick. Illustrator can be a quick tool for creating wireframes, especially if you know the tricks for quickly creating and duplicating objects. In the video below, I show you how to make quick Wireframes with Adobe Illustrator.

The reason that some use Illustrator for creating quick wireframes is that the program is forgiving. If you don’t create the right size document, you can easily adjust the canvas. You can also duplicate and stretch shapes quickly and easily. You aren’t left struggling with the limitations of the program. Once you’ve create a layout, you can copy and paste parts into a new page and create different layouts for other pages.
